Frequently asked questions

What are freestanding, integrated and combi appliances?

  • Freestanding appliances are appliances that stand on their own and can usually be pulled out for repair or replacement. Common examples include freestanding washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and fridge freezers.

  • Integrated appliances are built into your kitchen units and are often fitted behind a cupboard door or secured under a worktop. These can include integrated dishwashers, washing machines, fridge freezers and ovens. They may take longer to access because they sometimes need to be carefully removed before inspection or repair.

  • Combi appliances combine two functions in one machine. A common example is a washer dryer, which washes and dries clothes in the same appliance. These can sometimes be more complex to diagnose because one fault may affect either the washing side, drying side, or both.

What areas do you cover?

I am a trusted local trader based in Leicester Forest East and cover Leicester and surrounding areas across Leicestershire, including Glenfield, Kirby Muxloe, Braunstone, Enderby, Narborough, Blaby, Oadby, Wigston, Birstall, Syston, Thurmaston, Groby, Ratby and nearby villages.

How do I book?

Please use my booking  page to schedule a call-out and take a secure payment.

What is an out of warranty appliance repair?

An out of warranty repair is when your appliance is no longer covered by the manufacturer’s guarantee, or the fault is not covered under that guarantee. This means the repair cost is paid by the customer rather than the manufacturer.

I can inspect and diagnose faults on domestic appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers, ovens and hobs. If parts are needed, I will explain the fault clearly and provide a quote before any repair goes ahead.

If your appliance is still under manufacturer warranty, it is usually best to contact the manufacturer first, as they may repair it free of charge.

Is it safe to book online through your booking system?

Yes. Online bookings are processed securely using Stripe, a trusted third party payment provider used by many businesses globally.

Paying online helps secure your appointment and gives both you and me a clear payment record. If a refund is ever needed, I can process this through Stripe. Customers may also have the option to raise a payment dispute through their card provider if there is ever a genuine issue with a payment.

This helps make the booking process simple, secure and transparent.

What information do you need before booking?

It helps if you can provide the appliance type, brand, model number if available, a short description of the fault and any error codes shown on the display. Photos of the appliance label, fault code or damaged part can also be useful.

Where do I find the appliance model number?

The model number is usually found on a rating plate or sticker. On washing machines and tumble dryers it is often around the door opening. On dishwashers it is usually around the door edge. On ovens it may be inside the door frame.

Do I pay when the appointment is booked?

Yes, payment is collected at the time of booking to secure your appointment. This covers the call-out and diagnosis fee and is handled securely through Stripe, a trusted business payment platform.

Do you charge per hour?

No. I charge per appliance, not by the hour. This means you get a fixed-price repair, even if the job takes 2 hours or more to complete.

Do you charge for mileage?

No.

Do you accept cash?

No. Card payments by secure link or bank transfers are accepted. This keeps payments secure, traceable, and helps me provide clear receipts for every job. I accept Google Pay, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard.

Do you charge for re-visits if a part needs to be fitted?

No. If a part is needed, the return visit to fit it is included in the original call-out fee.

Do you offer evening and weekend appointments?

Yes. Unlike many national repair companies that mainly operate Monday to Friday during standard business hours, I offer evening and weekend appointments for customers who cannot be at home during the day.

Why are you cheaper than national appliance engineers?

I’m able to keep my prices lower because I’m a local independent appliance engineer, not a large national company with call centres, franchise fees, vehicle fleets or large office costs. I also keep my costs lower by avoiding expensive advertising fees.

Why are you not listed on TrustATrader or Checkatrade?

As a local independent sole trader, I choose to keep business overheads low so I can offer fixed priced appliance repairs.

Almost all of my work comes through word-of-mouth recommendations, and I’m proud to be chosen as a trusted local trader, with five-star Google reviews from customers across Leicester and Leicestershire. I am also DBS police vetted for added customer reassurance.

Do you install appliances?

No, not at this time. I currently provide a repair-only service.

Do you buy or sell appliances?

No, not at this time as I am a repair-only service. I can recommend firms that do.

Do you supply replacement parts?

Yes. I have access to thousands of new, genuine replacement parts for many major appliance brands. Where a part is needed, I will advise on availability, cost and whether the repair is worthwhile.

Which appliance brands do you work on?

I work on all major domestic appliance brands, including Bosch, Hotpoint, Beko, AEG, Zanussi, Hoover, Candy, Indesit, Neff, Siemens and other major manufacturers.

Do you offer cleaning of appliances?

No, not at this time as I am a repair-only service. I can recommend firms that do.

If my appliance is beyond repair will you take it away?

No, not at this time as I am a repair-only service. You would need to arrange collection and disposal via a trusted company or some local recycling centres accept white goods for disposal.

Do you repair washing machines?

Yes. I repair common washing machine faults including not draining, not spinning, door lock problems, leaks, error codes, tripping electrics and machines not starting.

Do you repair dishwashers?

Yes. I repair dishwasher faults including poor draining, leaking, not filling, not heating, poor cleaning results, pump faults and error codes.

Do you repair tumble dryers?

Yes. I repair common tumble dryer faults including not heating, not drying properly, tripping electrics, drum not turning, noisy operation and airflow-related problems.

Do you repair ovens and hobs?

Yes. I repair common oven and hob faults, including ovens not heating, fan faults, faulty elements, thermostat issues, tripping electrics and selected induction hob faults.

Do you repair fridge freezers?

No, not at this time.

Do you work on gas hobs or cookers / ovens?

No, not at this time - only electric.

Do you repair microwaves?

I can help with selected microwave faults, mainly on higher-value built-in or premium microwaves where a repair may be cost-effective. Microwave repairs are assessed carefully due to the high-voltage components inside.

Can you repair integrated appliances?

Yes. I can work on many integrated appliances, including integrated washing machines, dishwashers and ovens. Access and installation issues can sometimes affect the repair, especially if the appliance has been fitted tightly or incorrectly.

What happens if the appliance is not worth repairing?

I will give honest advice. If the repair is likely to be too expensive compared with replacing the appliance, I will tell you before any parts are ordered.

Do you give a guarantee?

Any fitted parts are covered by the relevant supplier or manufacturer warranty. I will also make sure the appliance is tested after repair and explain what applies before the work is completed.

Are you insured?

Yes. I am fully insured and can provide details of my public liability insurance if required.

Are you DBS / Police checked?

Yes. I am DBS / Police checked, giving customers extra reassurance when booking a local appliance repair engineer.

Do you work with landlords, AirBnB and letting agents?

Yes. I can help landlords and letting agents with tenant appliance faults. I can liaise with tenants directly where needed, arrange access, diagnose the appliance and provide clear advice on repair options.

Can tenants contact you directly?

Yes, if the landlord or letting agent is happy for them to do so. I can arrange a convenient appointment directly with the tenant and keep the landlord updated.

Can you attend the same day?

Same-day appointments may be available depending on workload and location. If I cannot attend the same day, I will offer the earliest available appointment. Check my booking availability.

Can I continue using an appliance that is tripping the electrics?

No. If an appliance is tripping the electrics, stop using it and switch it off. This can indicate an electrical fault that needs proper testing before the appliance is used again.

Can I use an appliance that is leaking?

No. If an appliance is leaking, stop using it and isolate the water supply if safe to do so. Water leaks can cause property damage and may create an electrical safety risk.

I have pets - are you okay with animals?

Yes, absolutely. I’m very comfortable around animals and I’m a dog owner myself. I am also a volunteer with Guide Dogs UK.
